(KBAK\/FOX58) \u2014 CHP officers are looking for the driver and vehicle responsible for hitting and killing a pedestrian on Di Giorgio Road late Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>The California Highway Patrol said on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at around 11:58 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Di Giorgio Road and May Street for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.<\/p>\n<p>CHP said for reasons still under investigation, a pedestrian, identified as a male, was walking westbound on the right shoulder of the roadway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling on the shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>The pedestrian died.<\/p>\n<p>CHP said there is currently no description of the suspect vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>According to CHP, at this time, it is unknown whether alcohol and\/or drugs were factors in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call the CHP Bakersfield Area office at (661) 396-6600.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bakersfield, Calif.
