{"id":414611,"date":"2026-07-28T01:34:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T01:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/414611\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T01:34:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T01:34:14","slug":"east-sac-top-chef-competition-kicks-off-neighborhood-deals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/414611\/","title":{"rendered":"East Sac top chef competition kicks off neighborhood deals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Restaurants, bars, and grocery stores around East Sacramento are offering discounts to visitors as part of the \u201cSavor East Sac\u201d campaign that runs until Aug. 2.<\/p>\n<p>The 10-day program, which began July 24, is a project of the East Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. Last year, the winner was Rafi Salmeron, the head chef of Cervecer\u00eda by Urban Roots.<\/p>\n<p>This year, six chefs participated in the  competition, along with Salmeron. With paper ballots and stubby pencils, the diners then voted for their favorites.<\/p>\n<p>During the meal, Pearce told the crowd the purpose of the 10-day Savor East Sac event. \u201cThis time of year tends to be slower for the food and drink industry,\u201d she said. \u201cSo we want to help out our participants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chef Fagnoni of Hawks Provisions and Public House took home the Top Chef title. His dish was the sweet corn agnolotti, a corn-filled pasta that he described as \u201ca ravioli with a scoop on the front.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love working with pasta,\u201d Fagnoni told the crowd after his win.
