World Cup soccer parties generated the most business the restaurants in the city\u2019s major FIFA entertainment zone had ever seen<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019d say, in terms of sales, it was more than six Super Bowls,\u201d Musterer told this news organization in a story published July 19.<\/p>\nHowever, in an email later Monday, Musterer said the decision predates both the World Cup parties and the popular Super Bowl activities hosted by the city of San Jose and San Pedro Square earlier in 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has been in the works for over a year,\u201d he said. \u201cThe timing with the ABC license being approved and posted just happened due to some paperwork delays over the past three months. ABC is very overwhelmed right now so the transfer is taking a lot of time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The San Pedro restaurant will close Aug. 30, and another hospitality group will take over that location. The decision was a strategic one, he said, intended to take advantage of Sushi Confidential\u2019s \u201chighly scalable model\u201d and \u201crapidly expanding corporate catering division.\u201d He envisions opening five new restaurants in the next five years.<\/p>\n
He said the San Pedro restaurant will host celebrations during the month of August to thank employees, guests and the downtown community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe wanted to give our employees as much advance notice and support as possible,\u201d Musterer also said in the release. \u201cMany of them have been with us for years, and they deserve tremendous credit for the success of this restaurant. Our priority is to help as many team members as possible transition into opportunities within our other Sushi Confidential locations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re also encouraged that the new hospitality group has expressed a strong interest in retaining many of our current employees, which should help create a smoother transition for both our team and our loyal guests.\u201d<\/p>\n
