Long Beach will host a free art and music festival on Saturday, Nov. 8, during which community members can experience interactive art, live music, creative workshops and more.<\/p>\n

The event, called \u201cCommunity Values Art, Art Values Community,\u201d will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Latin American Art, 628 Alamitos Ave, and will strive to bring people together for a day of fostering connection and building community.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere in Long Beach, we have a rich history in arts and culture,\u201d Mayor Rex Richardson said in a statement, \u201cand we are committed to making that art more accessible to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hosted by the Long Beach Office of Climate Action and Sustainability, in partnership with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, the event is part of the city\u2019s Neighbor-to-Neighbor program.<\/p>\n

The program \u2013 funded by the California Volunteers, Office of the Governor<\/a> network and led by the city\u2019s Office of Climate Action and Sustainability \u2013 works to foster connection and build communities that come together and address local needs, such as climate action, according to a press release. Through the program, Long Beach hosts networking and community events, including movies in the park and block parties, and climate action activities such as neighborhood tree planting and workshops.<\/p>\n

During the festival, community members can enjoy free entry to the museum and free food offerings, according to the press release. The event will feature a variety of interactive art exhibits and activities, including dance and puppeteering performances, zine-making workshops and design-your-own tote bag crafts. There will also be a full schedule of live music and DJ performances, including by DJ Kantuta, Juanita and Juan, and 3LH.<\/p>\n

Across the street at Gumbiner Park, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine will host its Mobile Recess, a program that brings trucks loaded with recreational supplies and equipment to designated neighborhood streets to provide free activities, from 2 to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

Registration is required to attend and is available both online at lbcity.info\/n2n<\/a> and in-person at the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this Neighbor-to-Neighbor event, we are offering the community an opportunity to explore exhibits for free at the beloved Museum of Latin American Art,\u201d Richardson said, \u201cas well as providing a full line-up of family-friendly activities meant to foster connections between neighbors and inspire more opportunities for artists to collaborate in Long Beach.\u201d<\/p>\n
