Crenshaw Boulevard. Proposed plans called for the use of development through the Citywide Housing Incentive Program to permit a larger apartment complex would have otherwise been allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, 17 of the proposed apartments were to be set aside for rent by extremely low-income households.

View looking west from Crenshaw boulevardKevin Tsai Architecture

A revised application, filed late last week with the Planning Department, switches the focus of the project to fully income-restricted housing. Plans now call for 187 residential units, including 148 for low-income households, 38 for moderate-income households, and one market-rate manager’s unit above 4,936 square feet of retail space. The complex would include a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom dwellings with parking for 45 vehicles.

Kevin Tsai Architecture is designing 7715 Crenshaw, which is portrayed in renderings as a contemporary podium-type building.
