A person was injured Wednesday morning when a San Diego police officer fired one round into a suspected stolen vehicle in San Ysidro, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The person was transported to a hospital. No information about his or her condition was immediately released.<\/p>\n
The shooting occurred during a \u201chot stop\u201d on a suspected stolen vehicle shortly before 7:05 a.m. on Del Sur Boulevard near Beyer Boulevard. Police had approached the vehicle with guns drawn when the officer fired a shot, said police spokesperson Officer Colin Steinbroner.<\/p>\n
He said more than one person was inside the vehicle at the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were trying to get the suspects to come out of the vehicle\u201d when the shooting occurred, he said.<\/p>\n
Sheriff\u2019s homicide detectives have responded to the scene and will be investigating the shooting. Under a countywide memorandum, law enforcement agencies don\u2019t investigate their own agency\u2019s shootings.<\/p>\n
