(KFSN) &#8212; <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4QJqO4BS-aY&amp;t=622s\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bodycam footage has been released<\/a> of a shooting involving police officers that left a suspect dead in southeast Fresno.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">EDITOR&#8217;S NOTE: The video above is from a previous broadcast and will be updated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The shooting happened on June 5 at a home on 11th Street and Burns Avenue regarding a disturbance involving the family&#8217;s son, who had arrived armed with a gun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">In the video, you can hear the mother of Ricardo Leon tell dispatchers that she had recently filed a restraining order but it hadn&#8217;t been processed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The woman told police that Leon was in the backyard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">One of the officers noticed he had a gun and immediately told him to drop it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Leon can be heard on the officer&#8217;s bodycam footage saying that he wanted them to hurt him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto said officers attempted to de-escalate the situation before gunfire erupted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Shots then rang out between Leon and another officer who was on the other side of the house, away from the two officers trying to de-escalate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Leon was ultimately shot and declared dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">Authorities also noted that this was the first shooting this year involving the discharge of a Fresno police officer&#8217;s firearm.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2026 KFSN-TV.
