(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A woman accused of<a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/at-least-one-dead-after-crash-on-highway-178-haley-street-kern-county-california-bakersfield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> driving under the influence in a Highway 178 crash that killed a 23-year-old Bakersfield man<\/a> was sentenced on Tuesday to seven years in prison, according to Kern County Superior Court records.<\/p>\n<p>Hisa Ann Castillo was sentenced on July 28, after pleading no contest to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in May in connection with the crash that killed Alejandro Marix Manriquez-Chavez. <\/p>\n<p>The crash happened June 13, 2025, just after 1 a.m. on Highway 178 west of Beale Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>California Highway Patrol officers were called to a report of a multi-vehicle crash and said a preliminary investigation found a Saturn Ion parked along the right shoulder of eastbound Highway 178 west of Beale Avenue with two people inside.<\/p>\n<p>CHP said the driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe, Castillo, was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed and drifted onto the right shoulder, hitting the back of the Saturn. CHP said both vehicles overturned in traffic lanes, killing the other driver, Alejandro Marix Manriquez-Chavez.<\/p>\n<p>The other occupant of the Saturn suffered minor to moderate injuries and was treated, according to CHP. <\/p>\n<p>Castillo suffered minor injuries and was treated at Kern Medical before she was arrested.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
