FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A generous anonymous donor is helping transform learning spaces at Fresno Pacific University for a second consecutive year, funding hundreds of thousands of dollars in classroom upgrades across campus.<\/p>\n
Last summer, four classrooms at Fresno Pacific University received major renovations, including new carpet, furniture and large whiteboards. University officials said the improvements were made possible through a gift from an anonymous donor committed to supporting student learning.<\/p>\n
This spring, that donor had the opportunity to see the impact firsthand.<\/p>\n
According to Becky Bradley, Fresno Pacific University’s vice president of marketing and communications, the donor attended a lecture on campus.<\/p>\n
“It was a CS Lewis class, and something that she had interest in, and she just wanted to have an experience with students in the classrooms,” Bradley said. “And the classroom that she attended was one that was renovated last summer.”<\/p>\n
Bradley said seeing faculty and students actively using the upgraded space left a lasting impression on the donor.<\/p>\n
“The way they can teach, the technology, just the newness of the space really stood out to her,” Bradley said. “And she thought, ‘Wow, this is something that I would hope to be able to see in other classrooms on campus.'”<\/p>\n
Inspired by the experience, the donor contributed an additional $700,000 to expand the renovation effort.<\/p>\n
As a result, multiple construction projects are underway across campus this summer.<\/p>\n
Hallways are lined with protective coverings while crews repaint walls, upgrade technology and modernize learning environments.<\/p>\n
The latest investment will fund renovations in seven classrooms and one meeting space.<\/p>\n
Planned improvements include new furnishings, updated lighting, speakers and other classroom technology designed to enhance instruction.<\/p>\n
Bradley said the university hopes students recognize the institution’s commitment to creating an environment that supports their success.<\/p>\n
“Our hope is that returning students and new students that come will see the way that we invest in the student experience,” she said. “That we understand the ways that classrooms make a difference in their learning environment.”<\/p>\n
University officials said gifts like this one help create long-term benefits for future generations of students.<\/p>\n
“The years ahead and even in the decades ahead, we know that investment now has a ripple effect on students in the future,” Bradley said. “Which we are so grateful for.”<\/p>\n
The seven classroom renovations are expected to be completed before students return for the start of the fall semester.<\/p>\n
