A new supportive housing complex next to the headquarters of the Downtown Women’s Center<\/a> reached a key milestone this week, with a topping out ceremony at 5th Street San Pedro Streets in Skid Row.<\/p>\n

Rosa’s Place, built on the former site of a parking lot at 501 E. 5th Street<\/a>, is being developed in partnership with Daylight Community Development<\/a> and GTM Holdings<\/a>. The new seven-story building will contain 97 units of permanent supportive housing, one market rate manager’s apartment, and on-site offices for service providers.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s\u00a0milestone\u00a0represents hope for Skid Row and\u00a0demonstrates what\u2019s possible when communities invest in proven solutions to homelessness,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Downtown Women’s Center chief executive officer Amy Turk, in a news release.\u00a0\u201cEvery\u00a0signature placed\u00a0on\u00a0this staircase reflects our collective commitment to\u00a0creating brighter futures\u00a0for women and survivors of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

KFA Architecture\u00a0<\/a>and Gensler are designing the building, which has a V-shaped footprint above its podium level to provide open space amenities and natural light.<\/p>\n

Completion is expected in Fall 2027, at which point the project will nearly double the Downtown Women’s Center’s housing capacity from 119 to 216\u00a0homes.<\/p>\n

Funding for the project comes through the various state sources, Apple, the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, Century, and Citi.<\/p>\n
