More than 100 family members, friends, artists and community leaders gathered at Long Beach City Hall on July 22 to celebrate the life of internationally recognized artist and Holocaust survivor Hedy Pagremanski, known personally and professionally as Hedy Page, who died in February.

The tribute, held in the City Council chamber, was presented by Artists in Partnership in collaboration with the Page family and the City of Long Beach. The event honored Page’s contributions as an artist, humanitarian and advocate for diversity and inclusion.

Filmmaker John Terracuso traveled from California to introduce his 2024 documentary, “The World I Know,” which chronicles Page’s life, from surviving the Holocaust to becoming a celebrated street artist whose work promoted compassion and understanding.

Following the screening, her daughter, JoAnne Page, and son, Ken Page, reflected on their mother’s generosity, resilience and commitment to helping others. Former Nassau County Poet Laureate Paula Curci read an original poem written in her honor.

Nassau County Deputy County Executive Anissa Moore and former state Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg also spoke, recalling Page’s influence on the Long Beach community and her message of dignity and acceptance.

The evening featured musical performances by Ben Metzger and vocalists Shira Lev, Ivy Landsman and Ben Zinnar. Brian Horne, of Christian Light Baptist Church, performed an a cappella rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

Attendees also viewed “Eric’s Full Circle Legacy” —Page’s final painting — which is on display above the entrance to the City Council chamber. Artists in Partnership thanked City Manager Daniel Creighton, City Council President Brendan Finn and members of the City Council for displaying the artwork.

Page’s legacy will continue through her artwork and the Artists in Partnership’s Good Works Fund, established to support artists and cultural programs in Long Beach and the surrounding areas, inspired by her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Page earned international recognition for artwork that celebrated humanity, resilience and hope. Organizers said the tribute reflected those themes, bringing together family, friends and members of the Long Beach arts community to remember her life and lasting impact.

More than 100 family members, friends, artists and community leaders gathered at Long Beach City Hall on July…

[33
138433,167765,131,133,132,4694,167766
post-419715","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-long-beach","tag-artists-in-partnership","tag-hedy-page-pagremanski","tag-long-beach","tag-long-beach-headlines","tag-long-beach-news","tag-new-york","tag-the-world-i-know-documentary
["GET
