(FOX26) \u2014 Drivers on one of Fresno&#8217;s busiest roads will soon see smoother pavement and safety upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>The Fresno City Council has approved a $1.64 million construction contract for roadway improvements on Shaw Avenue between Fruit Avenue and just east of Palm Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>The project will repave about 0.7 miles of roadway in both directions and include ADA-compliant curb ramps, updated signs, and new striping.<\/p>\n<p>[RELATED] <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/fresno-city-council-debates-4-proposed-ballot-measures-amid-questions-over-cost-and-timing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fresno City Council debates 4 proposed ballot measures amid questions over cost and timing<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Construction is expected to begin this fall and, if everything stays on schedule, be completed before Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>The project is funded through the federal Surface Transportation Block Grant program, with matching funds provided by California&#8217;s SB-1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
