The US cities where vehicle theft is most rampant have been revealed.<\/p>\n
Nationwide vehicle thefts <\/a>have hit a historic low \u2014 down 35% since its peak in 2023 \u2014 but the crime continues to wreak havoc in some of the country\u2019s blue metros.<\/p>\n Using stats and data from 2025 from the FBI, National Insurance Crime Bureau and the Highway Loss Data Institute, American Trucks <\/a>determined that Oakland, CA, is the riskiest city for car owners.<\/p>\n A recent study has revealed where car thefts are rampant,. LIGHTFIELD STUDIOS \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n The city has not only lost its football and baseball teams, but 1,459 cars per every 100,000 residents get jacked by thieves, the study determined.<\/p>\n Oakland is run by the notoriously soft-on-crime Democrat<\/a> Mayor Barbara Lee \u2014 who\u2019s city-owned SUV was ironically stolen in February<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cNo one in Oakland should have to worry about their car being stolen,<\/a> whether they\u2019re a resident, a city worker, or the mayor. Public safety is a priority across our entire city,\u201d Lee said at the time.<\/p>\n St. Louis is the second-worst city for auto theft, with 1,172 vehicles per 100,000 people robbed. <\/p>\n The Missouri city is by Democratic Mayor Cara Spencer.<\/p>\n Minneapolis has the third-highest rate of car thefts, with 1,141 stolen vehicles per every 100,000 residents. <\/p>\n Cities were ranked by rates of theft per every 100,000 residents. American Trucks<\/p>\n Woke Mayor Jacob Frey spoke in March about the damning stats showing a 35% surge in car thefts \u2014 and squarely place the blame on federal ICE agents. <\/p>\n She said the city\u2019s cops were spread to thin \u201cdealing with issues\u201d stoked by the feds\u2019 presence in the city to focus on car thefts and other crime, WCCO radio reported at the time<\/a>.<\/p>\n Dayton, Ohio, was the fourth most dangerous city for car theft<\/a>, with 1,118 incidents for every 100,000 residents in the city run by left-leaning Shenise Turner-Sloss. The previous mayor decried the shortage of cops.<\/p>\n Philadelphia \u2014 run by Dem Mayor Cherelle Parker \u2014 has the fifth-worst car theft dilemma, with 1,015 thefts per every 100,000 residents, the study found. She vowed to target the crime but earlier this week local police said they were investigating a string of 30 stolen Hondas over the past month, NBC reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n Car thefts across the nation have declined overall. The Big Apple was ranked 188 out of 281 cities. <\/p>\n Despite the national decline, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and New York State have experienced the biggest spikes in car thefts since 2019. <\/p>\n DC thefts spiked by 110%, Pennsylvania thefts jumped by 106% and New York thefts increased by 94%, according to American Trucks. <\/p>\n \u201cThis isn\u2019t rocket science,\u201d John Lott, a former DOJ advisor and the president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, told The Post.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you want to reduce crime, whether it\u2019s murders or you want to reduce car thefts, you have to make it riskier for criminals to go and commit crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The US cities where vehicle theft is most rampant have been revealed.
