As temperatures soar at the Sacramento State Fair, visitors are using cool zones, air-conditioned buildings, and shaded areas to beat the heat during the event’s final July weekend.<\/p>\n
SACRAMENTO, Calif. \u2014<\/p>\n
Triple-digit temperatures at the Sacramento State Fair have fairgoers seeking relief through cool zones, shaded areas, and air-conditioned buildings as the event enters its final July weekend. <\/p>\n
Bismeet, a fairgoer from Yuba City, was searching for popsicles to cool off. <\/p>\n
“I don’t know, I’m trying to find them. I’m about to go to the cool zone,” he said. <\/p>\n
Cool zones have been set up around the fairgrounds, and attendees of all ages were doing their best to stay comfortable, with some arriving early to avoid the peak heat. <\/p>\n
“Got here like 11 a.m., in the morning when it was a little nicer. They have cool zones everywhere around the area where you can chill,” one fairgoer said. <\/p>\n
Ulises Leos, who traveled from Modesto to enjoy the fair, praised the organizers for their efforts to keep visitors cool. <\/p>\n
“I love the beer garden because you can have a drink and watch a cornhole tournament,” he said. “If you’re hot out here, go into one of these tents, they have AC in there, you can drink some water, eat some food.” <\/p>\n
Beyond rides and refreshments, the fair offers eight air-conditioned buildings, including the California Crafts Exhibit, where visitors can enjoy cooler temperatures. <\/p>\n
Darla Givens, spokesperson for the Sacramento State Fair, highlighted the variety of indoor activities available. <\/p>\n
“You can go and watch cooking demonstrations all day long and get free snacks. You have places to go where you can stop and cool off,” Givens said. <\/p>\n
She also suggested following the buildings by alphabet to minimize sun exposure. <\/p>\n
“We went from one end of the fairgrounds to the other with minimum exposure to the sun,” she said. <\/p>\n
As the fair enters its final weekend, organizers are encouraging attendees to bring sunscreen, water, and find shade to stay safe in the heat. <\/p>\n
“We have our lagoon, that puts off cooler air, so there are several places where you can beat the heat,” Givens said. <\/p>\n
Organizers also announced that this will be the last year the fair is held in July. Starting next year, the event will move to September, following feedback from fairgoers.<\/p>\n
