Judge sentences 49er Travel Plaza shooter in Sacramento County murder case<\/p>\n

A man convicted of shooting and killing a woman at 49er Travel Plaza in 2022 was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office said. <\/p>\n

This is a life sentence but means the defendant, Quentin Respers, can seek parole after 40 years.<\/p>\n

Respers was convicted of second-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm in May after Abrina Wheeler was shot at the 49er Travel Plaza on El Centro Road, KCRA 3 previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The shooting took place at 3:45 a.m. on June 24, 2022. Respers fired two shots at Wheeler after she spilled Gatorade on him, prosecutors said. <\/p>\n

Respers then “casually” walked out of the store, according to the district attorney’s office. <\/p>\n

Prosecutors previously said the two had met up to discuss their relationship. <\/p>\n

Wheeler died at the hospital several hours after being shot.<\/p>\n

Respers was previously convicted in 2017 for firearm-related charges. <\/p>\n
