A 14-month-old child died Sunday after being struck by a truck in the driveway of the family\u2019s Meadow Vista home, according to the California Highway Patrol\u2019s Auburn office.<\/p>\n

Highway Patrol officers were called to the home in the 700 block of Meadow Gate Road shortly after 2:35 p.m. CHP officials said the child\u2019s father was moving a pickup truck in the driveway and had seen the child near the driveway before moving the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The driver felt an impact as he moved the truck forward and stopped immediately, then told his wife to call 911.<\/p>\n

Emergency personnel responded, but the boy died from the injuries, CHP officials said.<\/p>\n

The CHP is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, but officials said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors.<\/p>\n

Officials offered their sympathies to the family in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe California Highway Patrol extends its deepest condolences to the child\u2019s family during this extraordinarily difficult time,\u201d said Capt. Andy Beasley, commander of the CHP\u2019s Auburn area.<\/p>\n
