Tech billionaire Chris Larsen can\u2019t donate more than $500 to the November reelection campaign of Supervisor Matt Dorsey, who is running unopposed. And he can\u2019t give Dorsey a gift of more than $630 because of local ethics laws.<\/p>\n
But there is another way to write a big check, and on June 24, Larsen found it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The crypto executive and political power broker deposited $25,000 into Dorsey\u2019s local Democratic County Central Committee officeholder account, an obscure campaign vehicle that allows for unlimited donations to support officials\u2019 activities on the party board \u2014 and one that ethics experts<\/a> warn can function as (opens in new tab)<\/a> a slush fund<\/a>.
