Meanwhile, by city officials\u2019 own admission, it\u2019s a place where fewer people can afford to live.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-block break-words article-body text-left\">The latest economic snapshot from the city controller\u2019s office, released Monday, credits the turnaround largely to San Francisco\u2019s AI investment boom \u2014 the same rebound Mayor Daniel Lurie <a href=\"https:\/\/sfstandard.com\/2026\/07\/23\/daniel-lurie-affordability-ai-boom-housing-san-francisco\/\" data-post-id=\"f43780c1-af98-4118-99ab-07cc78e2b05d\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">described to The Standard<\/a> last week as reshaping his governing agenda.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-block break-words article-body text-left\">Asking rents for empty apartments grew 14% between March and July. Home prices are climbing at double-digit annual rates even as prices fall statewide.
