SELMA, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Southbound Highway 99 in Selma is closed after a car accident caused a semi-truck to catch on fire on Saturday morning. <\/p>\n
CHP responded to a traffic accident on Highway 99 in Selma involving a fuel tanker and a box truck a bit before 9 a.m.<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, a 2024 Isuzu box truck became disabled due to a flat tire and pulled onto the right shoulder. <\/p>\n
About 10 minutes later, a fuel tanker carrying approximately 8,600 gallons of fuel veered into the right shoulder, hitting the box truck.<\/p>\n
The truck then overturned on the highway and became fully engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n
Debris from the collision also struck a Honda, causing minor damage.<\/p>\n
The driver of the fuel tanker was able to escape before the tanker caught fire with minor to moderate injuries.<\/p>\n
The driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.<\/p>\n
The drivers of the box truck and Honda were reported to be uninjured. <\/p>\n
Fire crews are in the area continuing to contain the fire.<\/p>\n
Traffic is being diverted to Highway 43 and Floral Avenue.<\/p>\n
The highway was reported to be partially opened.<\/p>\n
Caltrans will continue to clear the highway throughout the night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SELMA, Calif.
