NORTHRIDGE, Calif. \u2014\u00a0CSUN men’s soccer played the California Baptist Lancers to a 1-1 draw Saturday night at Matador Soccer Field in the Matadors’ first exhibition match of the fall.
\n\u00a0
\nJorge Solorzano<\/a> gave CSUN the early advantage, scoring in the 34th minute to put the Matadors ahead 1-0 at halftime. Solorzano’s goal was CSUN’s first strike of 2026 and came unassisted.
\n\u00a0
\nThe Matadors held the lead through the opening stages of the second half before California Baptist pulled level in the 56th minute. Mustapha Khasim finished a pass from Matteo Costa to even the match at 1-1.
\n\u00a0
\nCSUN goalkeeper Dorian Drucks<\/a> played the opening 45 minutes and kept the Lancers off the scoreboard, making no saves. Bryan Castaneda<\/a> took over in goal to begin the second half and helped preserve the draw.<\/p>\n

The Lancers generated 13 shots to CSUN’s four, including 11 attempts in the second half. California Baptist also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Matadors, however, put all four of their shots on target.

\nKayvon Monfared<\/a> registered two shots for CSUN,\u00a0both of which\u00a0on goal, while Enrique Pineda<\/a> also put his lone attempt on frame.

\n“It was a nice one for him to get going on the year. You know, it’s a shout-out to the 661. Solo represents Palmdale very well, and we’re proud of him. He’s a game changer.

\nOn the overall first-half performance:

\n“It’s a typical first game where there’s a lot of wildness, a lot of testosterone, a lot of people not doing well with the ball and understanding what their offense is trying to do.\u00a0You’ve got to\u00a0remember that\u00a0we’re only four days into practice.\u00a0

\nOn what he takes into the next exhibition:

\n“We’ve\u00a0got a lot to work on.\u00a0I’m\u00a0proud of the guys’ effort, but\u00a0we’ve\u00a0got a lot to work on.\u00a0So,\u00a0I’m excited about getting in the office tonight and tomorrow, getting practice ready, and improving this team, and watching our team go.”
