FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Witness testimony concluded Friday in Cassandra Michael\u2019s juvenile murder trial, with Caleb Quick\u2019s accuser taking the stand for the first time.<\/p>\n
Michael is accused of driving the getaway car for her then boyfriend, Byron Rangel, who prosecutors say shot and killed Quick outside a Clovis McDonald\u2019s on April 23, 2025.<\/p>\n
A judge has ordered media not to identify, record or show Quick\u2019s accuser. FOX26 is referring to her as Jane Doe.<\/p>\n
Doe testified Quick did something to her the night of April 13 into April 14 that she \u201cdidn\u2019t agree with.\u201d She said she told Michael about the allegation on April 22, the day before Quick was killed.<\/p>\n
Doe said Michael hugged her and told her it would be OK. She also testified Michael never expressed wanting to hurt Quick or get revenge.<\/p>\n
Starla Montoya, a friend of Rangel\u2019s from school, testified Rangel was \u201creally upset\u201d after learning about the allegation. She said he later asked her to help beat up Quick, but she refused.<\/p>\n
The court also heard differing accounts of Michael\u2019s demeanor after Quick was killed.<\/p>\n
Jane Doe testified Michael was sad and cried with her. But Dana Moen, one of Michael\u2019s best friends at the time, described Michael differently during a phone call the night of the shooting.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen she first answered the phone, she wass, her demeanor was very laughy, giggly, almost typical for her answering one of my calls,\u201d Moen testified.<\/p>\n
Moen said Michael began crying after she told her what she had heard about Quick.<\/p>\n
After court, Quick\u2019s father, Stephen Quick, said the week of testimony reinforced his belief about Michael\u2019s involvement.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt really points to what I was able to see today and this all week that she played an active part in, you know, my son\u2019s demise,\u201d Quick said.<\/p>\n
When asked about hearing the allegations against his son, Quick said he was still processing the testimony.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, it seemed like they were good friends,\u201d he said. \u201cSo there\u2019s a lot of things that were going through my mind for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both sides have now rested. Closing arguments are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 17. Because Michael is being tried as a juvenile, a judge, not a jury, will decide the case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
