FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A lot of people in Fresno may recognize the Big Red Church on North Van Ness Blvd., north of Fresno High School.

Just to the south of it, there is a display of rainbow-painted doors that says ‘God’s doors are open to all.’

But the display was vandalized over the weekend.

We talked with the pastor, who said people from the church discovered it early Sunday morning.

“We are disheartened by this incident, but we want the community to know that this will not deter our congregation from opening its doors to all,” The Big Red Church said in a statement. “The Big Red Church has been an Open & Affirming congregation for more than 30 years.”

A police report was filed.

The display was originally built in June in celebration of Pride Month.

The pastor says by the time everyone got out of church Sunday, the doors were back up, as people were compelled to come and help do their part to help the church welcome people from all walks of life.

The Fresno Police Department says the vandalism is not being investigated as a hate crime.

FRESNO, Calif.
