A 31-year-old man riding an electric scooter was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Long Beach Monday.<\/p>\n
Officers responded at approximately 10 a.m. Monday to the 5300 block of Walton Street, near Willow Street and Clark Avenue, to reports of a crash, according to the Long Beach Police Department.<\/p>\n
The responding officers found a man in the roadway and began providing medical aid with help from a good Samaritan until paramedics arrived, police said.<\/p>\n
Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 Toyota Tundra driven by a 42-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Walton Street and struck the 31-year-old man who attempted to turn westbound onto Walton Street from Stanbridge Avenue.<\/p>\n
Police said the driver of the Tundra saw the victim approaching and attempted to slow down to stop before the collision occurred.<\/p>\n
\u201cSpeed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the collision,\u201d the department said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.<\/p>\n
