A man was\u00a0detained after a pursuit resulted in a traffic collision just north of State Route 14\u00a0on Monday morning, according to officials with the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office.\u00a0<\/p>\n
At around\u00a08:43 a.m.,\u00a0the\u00a0CHP Bakersfield Communication Center was advised that a gray Audi sedan was stolen at a gas station in Mettler, according to an email statement\u00a0from Officer Andre Ortiz with CHP\u2019s\u00a0Newhall\u00a0office.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Uninvolved\u00a0drivers spotted the Audi and reported the driver was driving recklessly southbound\u00a0on\u00a0Interstate\u00a05, south of Laval Road\u00a0in Arvin, Ortiz said in the statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A CHP\u00a0Newhall\u00a0officer\u00a0located\u00a0the Audi traveling southbound\u00a0on\u00a0I-5, south of Templin Highway,\u00a0and the officer waited for an\u00a0additional\u00a0unit to conduct an enforcement stop, the statement said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
An\u00a0additional\u00a0officer arrived, and\u00a0an enforcement\u00a0stop was\u00a0initiated, according to the statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a0suspect\u00a0of the Audi\u00a0failed to\u00a0yield\u00a0on the\u00a0southbound I-5, south of Parker Road,\u00a0and\u00a0crashed into a gray Subaru SUV just north of SR-14,\u00a0terminating\u00a0the pursuit, the statement said.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
He\u00a0was taken into custody without further incident at approximately 9:55 a.m., Ortiz\u2019s statement said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a0man\u00a0and\u00a0a person\u00a0from the Subaru were transported to a local hospital as a precaution, according to the statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
