{"id":430899,"date":"2026-08-12T17:42:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T17:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/430899\/"},"modified":"2026-08-12T17:42:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T17:42:09","slug":"bay-area-science-centers-to-host-eclipse-meteor-shower-events-nbc-bay-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/430899\/","title":{"rendered":"Bay Area science centers to host eclipse, meteor shower events \u2013 NBC Bay Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bay Area science institutions will host several events Wednesday for people interested in astronomy, including watch parties for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcbayarea.com\/news\/national-international\/solar-eclipse-2026-how-to-watch-time-states-path\/4126962\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">total solar eclipse<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcbayarea.com\/news\/local\/perseids-meteor-shower-bay-area\/4126734\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Perseid meteor shower<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Chabot Space &amp; Science Center in Oakland will host a NASA livestream of the total solar eclipse beginning at 10 a.m., with Iceland&#8217;s eclipse occurring around 10:45 a.m. A Perseid meteor shower watch party is scheduled for 11 p.m. at the center at 10000 Skyline Blvd.<\/p>\n<p>The California Academy of Sciences and SETI Institute will host a total solar eclipse event at 10:30 a.m. featuring livestreams from Iceland and northern Spain, along with a live performance by the International Space Orchestra.
