(KBAK\/KBFX)  \u2014 Hitting a utility line during a home project can lead to some major damages.<\/p>\n<p>PG&amp;E is urging customers to call their 811 line before doing any kind of work that may involve digging.<\/p>\n<p>Jason King with PG&amp;E joined ARC Bakersfield to share what the community should know before they dig.<\/p>\n<p>King says there were 35 incidents involving digging last year and there have been 25 so far in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He says the average cost of repairs during these types of incidents is as much as $3,500.<\/p>\n<p>King says residents should call 811 two days before any project so professionals can mark all utility lines in the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
