The \u201cHome Run for Anaheim Act\u201d — a push to return \u201cAnaheim\u201d to the name of the hometown Angels — has cleared both houses of the California legislature without a single vote against it, according to Bill Shaikin of the L.A. TIMES. California Gov. Gavin Newsom now \u201chas two months to sign the bill into law, barring a veto that would be surprising because of the lack of opposition.\u201d The bill — introduced by Assembly member Avelino Valencia last March<\/a> — does \u201cnot mandate\u201d the Angels revert to the Anaheim Angels name. But it does provide Anaheim \u201cwith an inducement for the Angels: If the city obtains an exemption from a state law requiring affordable housing to be prioritized\u201d in any mixed-use development around the ballpark — \u201cpotentially maximizing revenue for the team — then the team must be called the Anaheim Angels.\u201d Angels owner Arte Moreno has twice reached deals with the city to \u201cdevelop the land, only to see\u202fthe city walk away\u202fboth times.\u201d In the last deal, he \u201crejected the city\u2019s request\u202fto rename the team the Anaheim Angels.\u201d But Shaikin added should Moreno sell the team, the city \u201ccould use the exemption as leverage in discussions with a new owner\u201d (L.A.
