LONG BEACH, Calif.\u00a0\u2014 Berms, seawalls and sand bags were holding back tidal flood waters affecting a number of seaside areas of Southern California Wednesday.<\/p>\n
High tides have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a coastal flood advisory that expires at 11:59 Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The advisory affects the coastal region from Ventura to San Diego counties, including areas of Malibu and Long Beach, said the NWS.<\/p>\n
“Minor coastal flooding expected during the evening high tides,” according to an NWS statement. “Coastal flooding concerns will peak each evening between about 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. due to astronomical high tides of 7.3 to 7.5 feet.”<\/p>\n
Low-lying coastal areas, including parking lots, beaches and walkways were particularly vulnerable to flooding, forecasters said, while adding “significant damage to roads or structures is not expected.”<\/p>\n
