And we have some answers for you.<\/p>\n<p>But first, let\u2019s take a moment to note what is probably the most talked about restaurant of the year so far, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bullerestaurant.com\/\">Bulle<\/a> (with <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hornbarbecue.com\/\">Horn Barbecue<\/a> and all its <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/bethany-clough\/article316089965.html\">associated<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/bethany-clough\/article316495295.html\">drama<\/a> coming in shortly behind it). <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/bethany-clough\/article315409784.html\">Bulle opened at Marks and Herndon avenues in the spring<\/a>, serving caviar and beef tartare and with decor than Fresnans love to talk about.<\/p>\n<p>And we know that <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/bethany-clough\/article316870611.html\">Heirloom\u2019s planned second restaurant<\/a>, headed for Clovis, is going to be the talk of the town \u2014 but that won\u2019t be opening in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>There are more high-profile restaurants coming in the second half of the year.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re not all fancy. One serves tacos \u2014 with a Michelin label loosely attached. Another features a celebrity chef and breakfast. One is casual place from the people behind <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/heirloom-eats.com\/\">Heirloom<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saizon.com\/\">Saizon<\/a>. CRAIG KOHLRUSS                                                                            ckohlruss@fresnobee.com                                                                                        Tacos El Franc<\/p>\n<p>Regular readers of The Bee\u2019s food &amp; drink section may already know about <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/popular\/tacos-el-franc-fresno\/?hl=en\">Tacos El Franc<\/a> from the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/bethany-clough\/article314939615.html\">story The Bee broke back in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tacos El Franc is a Tijuana-based taco shop that was recognized by the Michelin Guide in 2024 and 2025 (no stars awarded, just Michelin inspectors recommending the food). It\u2019s taking over the former Heroes Comics shop on Shaw Avenue, not far from Highway 41.<\/p>\n<p>It has locations in Tijuana and San Diego\u2019s Gaslamp Quarter and was featured in Netflix\u2019s \u201cTaco Chronicles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant serves the Tijuana-style taco, selling for $4.75 each.<\/p>\n<p>Meats are grilled on mesquite charcoal and tacos are served with creamy avocado.<\/p>\n<p>If The Bee\u2019s readership numbers are any indication, people are interested in this restaurant. CRAIG KOHLRUSS                                                                            ckohlruss@fresnobee.com                                                                                        <\/p>\n<p>Fans of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/s21-sushi-and-sake-bar-fresno\">S21 Sushi &amp; Sake Bar<\/a> were heartbroken when <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/bethany-clough\/article316602713.html\">the restaurant closed<\/a> as its owners retiring.<\/p>\n<p>But the spot at First Street and Bullard Avenue already has a new restaurant gearing up to move into the space.<\/p>\n<p>Hibachi Burger is moving in. That\u2019s a locally owned concept by David Rasavong, who has several Asian restaurants in Fresno. He owns or is a partner in several successful restaurants, including <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sataythaikitchen.com\/\">Satay Thai Kitchen &amp; Bar<\/a> in north Fresno, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/love_and_thai\/?hl=en\">Love &amp; Thai<\/a> in southeast Fresno and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/banzai_tower_sushi\/?hl=en\">Banzai Japanese Bar &amp; Kitchen<\/a> in the Tower District.<\/p>\n<p>Hibachi Burger, which he will open with a partner, combines burgers with hibachi-style cuisine.<\/p>\n<p>The menu will feature burgers with various Japanese sauces and spices, sushi and different styles of fries, Rasavong said. And matcha milkshakes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just a fun concept,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>It will be fast-casual spot, not super formal dining. Special to The Bee                                                                            EggBred                                                                                        <\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EggBredClovis\/\">EggBred<\/a>, a breakfast spot created by a chef who was on \u201cChopped,\u201d and other TV shows on The Travel Channel and ABC <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/article315564671.html\">is headed for Willow and Nees avenues near Trader Joe\u2019s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201ccraft breakfast sandwich\u201d restaurant founded by Albert Shim has franchises throughout California, Florida and a few other states.<\/p>\n<p>The Clovis location is aiming to open the first week of September.<\/p>\n<p>It will sell its breakfast sandwiches on fluffy milk buns with creative names such as Scramble Me Softly, made with soft-scrambled eggs, chives, caramelized onions, sharp cheddar and a smoked paprika spread.<\/p>\n<p>Meat options include chorizo, bacon, rib-eye asada, ham and the meatless Impossible sausage. CRAIG KOHLRUSS                                                                            ckohlruss@fresnobee.com                                                                                        <\/p>\n<p>Two popular restaurants, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/maydmodern.com\/\">Mayd Modern Mediterranean<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/butterfishpoke.com\/\">Butterfish California Poke<\/a>, are combining to open a single, unique location in Clovis.<\/p>\n<p>The dual restaurant is at the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article310351635.html\">Loma Vista Marketplace<\/a>, the new shopping center at Shaw and Leonard avenues.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurants are owned by the same people, who also are partners in trendy local restaurants <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saizon.com\/\">Saizon<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/heirloom-eats.com\/\">Heirloom<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/othersideroasters.com\/\">Otherside Cafe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mayd serves creative Mediterranean food, including build-your-own salad and grain bowls.<\/p>\n<p>It has a one location near Palm and Herndon that won <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/bethany-clough\/article257011082.html\">The Fresno Bee\u2019s poll for best new local restaurant<\/a> in 2021 and the title of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/living\/food-drink\/bethany-clough\/article296931809.html\">No. 1 spot for Mediterranean delivery nationwide<\/a> in 2024, according to DoorDash.<\/p>\n<p>Butterfish is a poke place serving bowls made with the raw tuna and other proteins. It has locations at Friant Road and First Street, and Herndon and Fowler avenues in Clovis.<\/p>\n<p>The new location in Clovis combines them both side by side. It has dine-in areas for each restaurant. It will also have a shared patio that seats 80 and is covered and heated off the Butterfish side, Brandon Smittcamp, one of the partners in the business.<\/p>\n<p>Walk-up windows for both brands are sandwiched between the two.<\/p>\n<p>They hope to open the new location in late October or early November.
