After 15 consecutive days of triple digit temperatures, the streak ended on Thursday in Fresno. Friday turned out to be our coolest day since June 29th! The question now is: how long will this mild weather last?

Strong high pressure over California has finally weakened, allowing cool air from the coast to surge inland. That surge was strong enough to bring coastal fog to Sacramento Friday morning! It’s also what’s responsible for the cooler temperatures we enjoyed on Friday – Merced saw a high of only 87, Madera reached 88, while Fresno and Hanford topped out at only 90.

Saturday will be warmer, but still not bad. Most of the Valley will see highs in the lower to middle 90’s.

Sunday will be hotter, with highs up to the upper 90’s.

But don’t panic – that’s the peak of the heat for a while. Most of next week will see highs similar to this weekend: middle to upper 90’s.

It’s still way too early to write off triple digit temperatures for the year, but I don’t see any for at least the next week. And after ending July and starting August off with 2 weeks of triple digit heat – this will be a nice break.

After 15 consecutive days of triple digit temperatures, the streak ended on Thursday in Fresno.
