BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A 34-year-old man was arrested Saturday morning after a two-hour standoff in which he was allegedly armed with knives inside an apartment with three children in Bakersfield.<\/p>\n

The Bakersfield Police Department said on August 15, 2026, at around 8:32 a.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 900 block of Mohawk Street regarding a domestic violence incident.<\/p>\n

Police said during the preliminary investigation, officers determined the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Juan Segura, was inside the apartment with three children and armed with knives.<\/p>\n

Segura refused to get out of the apartment.<\/p>\n

Bakersfield Police Department officers assigned to the Crisis Negotiation Team and SWAT Team responded to assist in ensuring the safety of the kids while taking Segura into custody.<\/p>\n

Police said about two hours after the initial officers responded, Segura got out of the residence and was arrested without incident.<\/p>\n

According to police, it was determined that the juveniles involved were not hurt during the incident.<\/p>\n

Segura was arrested for charges related to domestic violence and child abuse\/endangerment.<\/p>\n
