FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 A man was arrested after crashing into a home, and a gun was discovered in the car on Friday night, police say.<\/p>\n
Fresno Police officers observed a silver SUV traveling without headlights in the area of East Clinton Avenue and North Angus Street a bit after 10:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
The SUV also drove through a red light nearby. <\/p>\n
Officers tried to catch up but lost sight of the SUV after it turned south onto a nearby street.<\/p>\n
A short time later, officers found the SUV had collided with a home in the 3900 block of East Clinton Avenue.<\/p>\n
Police said the driver, later identified as Valentin Viera, was seen crawling out of the front passenger side of the vehicle and then fleeing south on North 9th Street.<\/p>\n
An officer chased Viera on foot and detained him a short distance away.<\/p>\n
Viera was placed in handcuffs and escorted back to the officer\u2019s patrol vehicle.<\/p>\n
Officers who stayed with the SUV reported seeing an AR-style rifle with a 10-inch barrel and a high-capacity magazine in plain view. <\/p>\n
The rifle was unsecured and resting on the rear passenger-side seat. <\/p>\n
Officers found one live round in the chamber and 38 live .223 rounds inside the magazine.<\/p>\n
