PHOTO: KBAK\/KBFX<\/p>\n<p>The Kern County Fire Department said on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at around 9 a.m., there was a commercial structure that had a working fire in the kitchen area, specifically in the hood area over the cooktops at the Chuy\u2019s restaurant on Rosedale Highway.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Freeborn, KCFD\u2019s Public Information Officer, said fire personnel found smoke from the roof.<\/p>\n<p>KCFD said employees had evacuated from the location.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"{p}A kitchen hood fire at Chuy\u2019s on Rosedale Highway prompted a multi-agency response Tuesday morning, with the blaze quickly contained. PHOTO: KBAK\/KBFX<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve done a very good job of recognizing, while they were doing their morning routine, firing up the restaurant, that they could see and smell smoke,\u201d said Freeborn. \u201cIt was growing. They began evacuating the facility, as well as doing what they could to extinguish the fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The employees then called 911 promptly. 20 KCFD personnel responded, as well as the Bakersfield Fire Department.
