(Cilker)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>LOS GATOS \u2014 A new community grocery store and fitness club are set to replace major tenants that had departed a Los Gatos shopping center.<\/p>\n<p>Gus\u2019s Community Market, a family-owned grocery store, and Club Studio, a fitness center, each signed leases for spaces at Cornerstone of Los Gatos.<\/p>\n<p>The grocery store will take over an 18,000-square-foot site once occupied by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/04\/21\/expanded-whole-foods-market-opens-los-gatos\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Whole Foods Market<\/a> at 15980 Los Gatos Blvd. after it relocated to a larger location in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The fitness center occupies a 19,000-square-foot space at 15920 Los Gatos Blvd. where Rite Aid had operated until <a href=\"https:\/\/riteaid.com\/what-happened\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the retail chain<\/a> went through a bankruptcy and shut down all its physical sites.<\/p>\n<p>With the two leases, Cilker, the Los Gatos-based real estate manager for the shopping center, has successfully repositioned it after the departures of key retailers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to successfully complete the strategic asset management and leasing plan that brings new and vibrant tenants to the Uptown Los Gatos community,\u201d said Keyston Smith, chief executive officer of Cilker.<\/p>\n<p>Gus\u2019s Community Markets opened its first of five locations in San Francisco when <a href=\"https:\/\/gussmarket.com\/about\/our-history\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">co-founders Gus Vardakastanis and his father Dimitri Vardakastanis<\/a> launched Haight-Ashbury Produce in 1981. Los Gatos represents Gus\u2019s first location outside of the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLos Gatos is a special community with a strong appreciation for quality food, local businesses, and personal service,\u201d said Dimitri Vardakastanis, co-owner of Gus\u2019s. \u201cWe are excited about becoming a part of the neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gus\u2019s is expected to open in the spring of 2027, along with the grocery retailer\u2019s in-house cafe partner.<\/p>\n<p>Club Fitness is slated to add what Cilker describes as a \u201ccutting-edge\u201d fitness center that adds amenities, boutique studio classes and wellness services in one gym.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Club Studio, a new fitness center at 15920 Los Gatos Boulevard in Los Gatos.
