A juvenile was hospitalized after a fight at Oakland’s Castlemont High School<\/a> Thursday morning, according to the Oakland Police Department and Oakland Unified School District.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred shortly after 10:15 a.m. in a back parking lot, where several people had a disagreement that led to a physical altercation, the district said.<\/p>\n

Police initially responded to a report of a stabbing and later learned that the juvenile was injured “by a bladed object” during a fight.<\/p>\n

Paramedics took the juvenile to an area hospital, where the victim was listed in stable condition. The district described the injury as non-life-threatening.<\/p>\n

Multiple juveniles were detained in connection with the incident, police said.<\/p>\n

Officers were speaking with people believed to be involved, according to the district.<\/p>\n

The school briefly entered secure school protocol, keeping students and staff inside classrooms and offices while police investigated. Oakland police gave the all-clear shortly after 11:30 a.m., and the school returned to normal operations, including lunch, the district said.<\/p>\n

“We are working closely with their family to ensure they have what they need,” the school district said in a statement. “Everyone who was impacted by this incident is being supported by school and district staff.”<\/p>\n

The 2026-27 school year for the Oakland Unified School District began Aug. 10, according to the\u00a0district calendar.<\/p>\n
