If he is taken off IR, the Sharks will be carrying nine defensemen on their active roster. Warsofsky isn’t worried about how the team will deploy their blue liners, especially after the Sharks dressed 11F-7D against the Detroit Red Wings.

Sharks likely to get key forward back against Kraken

With the San Jose Sharks assigning Patrick Giles back to the AHL on Monday, an open spot was created on the 23-man roster.

Leddy is a candidate to take that spot, but it is more likely to go to forward Adam Gaudette. Gaudette suffered an upper-body injury against the Minnesota Wild and has missed the Sharks’ past four games.

“I gotta see how he felt today, but it’s been a good couple of days for him,” Warsofsky said of Gaudette. “Practiced with us today, so we’re hopeful for tomorrow.”

Gaudette skated on the San Jose Sharks’ second line with Alexander Wennberg and Philipp Kurashev. The Sharks’ free agent signing was also part of the second power-play unit, which is an indicator he’ll be in Wednesday’s lineup, although it doesn’t confirm it.
