Sunnyvale Beam, the city’s new on-demand rideshare service, is officially launching Sept. 1, 9-10 a.m., at the Sunnyvale City Hall North Plaza. Attendees can check out the new vehicles, hear remarks from city officials and enjoy special giveaways.

The service is designed to complement existing transit services and improve first- and last-mile connections to public transit and other key destinations.

Beam will operate daily with nine electric vehicles; three of them will be wheelchair accessible. The service area is anywhere within the Sunnyvale city limits and includes two locations outside the city: Homestead High School and Kaiser Permanente’s Santa Clara Medical Center.

Catch a ride using a mobile app or by calling 408-547-9943. The first three rides are free; after that rides will be $3.50 and $1 for each additional passenger.
