(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 The Kern County Coroner\u2019s Office has identified the <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/bakersfield-police-investigate-shooting-reported-at-independence-high-school-friday-night\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">teen who died after a shooting at Independence High School <\/a>as 17-year-old Levi Jermaine Carter Brown of Bakersfield.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/bakersfield-police-investigate-shooting-reported-at-independence-high-school-friday-night\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">17-year-old boy shot &amp; killed at Independence H.S. during football game in Bakersfield<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bakersfield Police Department said on Friday, August 21, 2026, after 8 p.m., officers were called to reports of shots at Independence High School.
