Fresno County Sheriff and DA call on Sacramento leaders to fix criminal justice system<\/a><\/p>\nJanz urged municipal and county officials to establish clear policy pathways and defensive training programs authorizing eligible city attorneys and prosecutors to carry concealed firearms for personal protection while performing their public duties.<\/p>\n
He talked more about the man armed with a knife and gloves who showed up at his house in the middle of the night while his daughter and wife were sleeping.<\/p>\n
This individual was, and is, a convicted felon. He was on parole and is a 290 registrant.<\/p>\n
“He was there because he thought I had information or materials, or was covering up for the Fresno Police Department, related to what he believed were allegations favorable to him,” said Janz. “So, he thought I was in possession of those materials. Undoubtedly, if you watch any of the videos, he was there to cause me harm. He was waiting for me to come outside again. He was armed with a knife. He was wearing black gloves.”<\/p>\n
Lucky for me and my family, I was armed, and sheriff\u2019s deputies showed up almost immediately when we called 911. He was apprehended in the backyard.<\/p>\n
Janz says the individual was only convicted of misdemeanor trespass and has since been released.<\/p>\n
In the case of the stabbing at Courthouse Park last week, Janz says nobody at the location was armed, and they were engaged in campaign activities with Chief Deputy City Attorney Ashley Paulson.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m happy to see that we\u2019re now in a place where that conversation has reignited,” said Janz. “I\u2019m here today to announce that I am authorizing my attorneys at the City Attorney\u2019s Office, specifically my prosecutors and investigators, to carry firearms if they are licensed through the county process, hold a valid CCW, and have the proper training.”<\/p>\n
