{"id":442306,"date":"2026-08-24T20:56:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T20:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/442306\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T20:56:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T20:56:14","slug":"long-beach-police-department-and-fbi-seize-significant-amount-of-illegal-contraband-herald-community-newspapers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/442306\/","title":{"rendered":"Long Beach Police Department and FBI seize &#8216;significant amount&#8217; of illegal contraband | Herald Community Newspapers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Aug. 24, the Long Beach Police Department announced the seizure of a &#8220;significant amount&#8221; of illegal guns and drugs following a raid in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liherald.com\/longbeach\/stories\/nassau-county-district-attorney-dwi-enforcement-long-beach-2026,222709\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">District Attorney<\/a> Anne Donnelly.<\/p>\n<p>Charles Burns was arrested at his home on Reverend JJ Evans Boulevard on Aug. 21. Authorities recovered more than 20 guns and a &#8220;large amount&#8221; of cocaine, fentanyl, ecstasy, heroin and more than $100,000 in cash.<\/p>\n<p>Burns is charged with 59 gun and drug-related charges including first, second and third degree criminal possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was indicated to us that this person was dealing drugs in our community and that&#8217;s what was brought to our attention,&#8221; Police Commissioner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liherald.com\/stories\/meet-long-beachs-acting-top-cop,206220\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Richard DePalma<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With school starting in just a couple days, this is a significant investigation. This collaboration between Long Beach Department, Nassau County Police Department, the district attorney&#8217;s office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation [&#8230;] is going to make Long Beach much safer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The investigation remains ongoing.
