(File photo courtesy of Poway Unified School District)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 9-1-1 call led to a brief lockdown at a San Diego high school Monday, but police searched the campus and determined the report was unfounded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiego.gov\/police\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Police Department<\/a>, the campus of Mt. Carmel High School at 9550 Carmel Mountain Road \u201chas been deemed safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police said shortly after noon that officers were \u201cinvestigating the source of the call,\u201d and  \u201cstudents and staff are returning to their normal school-day activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SDPD Officer Colin Steinbroner said at 8:57 a.m., officers were informed that someone called 9-1-1, saying\u00a0\u00a0\u201cthere was an armed person in a bathroom on campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOfficers responded quickly to the call\u201d and checked every classroom and building on the campus, he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No suspect had been identified as of Monday afternoon, Steinbroner said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just before 10 a.m., SDPD announced on social media that \u201csignificant police resources are on scene working to ensure the campus is safe while officers investigate the report,\u201d and advised residents to avoid the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sunset Hills Elementary and Black Mountain Middle School \u201cwere also placed into a secure campus as a precaution,\u201d NBC7 reported.
