A 17-year-old was shot and killed Friday night during a football game at Independence High in Bakersfield.<\/p>\n
Police said shots were fired after 8 p.m. between a group of individuals. Officers arrived and found the victim with a gunshot wound outside the stadium.<\/p>\n
The teen was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Police said the shooting was an isolated incident that began as an altercation.<\/p>\n
The Kern County coroner\u2019s office identified the victim as Levi Jermaine Carter Brown.<\/p>\n
Police said there is no known relationship between Brown and the suspect.<\/p>\n
The suspected shooter, a 15-year-old, fled the scene but was later arrested, police said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur hearts are with the family of the 17-year-old boy who lost his life, and all those impacted by this tragedy,\u201d police wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n
