Police officer hospitalized after being shot near downtown San Jose<\/p>\n

\"DavidSAN JOSE, Calif. \u2014<\/p>\n

A San Jose police officer is in the hospital after being shot south of the city’s downtown area, the police department said<\/p>\n

The shooting was in the area of Lick Avenue and Goodyear Street. The injured officer was taken to a San Jose-area hospital, but their condition is unknown.<\/p>\n

NBC Bay Area reported that San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan was on his way to the hospital. <\/p>\n

Police have not said what led up to the shooting or whether they are searching for a suspect. <\/p>\n
