After the first week of picks, the Bee had a setback on Thursday but recovered the next day.<\/p>\n
The Bee went 1-5 on the first slate of games to kick off the 2026 high school football season but rebounded the next day, going 23-8 that includes the bonus picks.<\/p>\n
On the bonus picks, where the Bee selected five games, it went 4-1. The lone loss came in the Kingsburg-Arroyo Grande game. The Bee picked Arroyo Grande to win, but the Vikings prevailed 29-12.<\/p>\n
Not a bad start to the 2026 season.<\/p>\n
Now it\u2019s on to this week, with more games on the schedule after a handful of other Fresno-area schools had a bye.<\/p>\n
Here are the five games the Bee is looking at, plus a bonus pick and other selections.<\/p>\n
Grant-Sacramento at Central East: This is a rematch of last season\u2019s matchup in Sacramento. The Pacers won 42-26, handing the Bengals their only loss of 2025. Can Central East avenge that defeat? The Bengals have the pieces to get it done, with many returners back from that team. Lightning won\u2019t stop this game. Central East 54, Grant 46.<\/p>\n
Edison at Clovis North: This will be the first game of the season for the Tigers, while the Broncos are coming off a 51-7 rout of Frontier. Edison is more athletic this season, but the Broncos are still formidable. Clovis North 43, Edison 17.<\/p>\n
Buchanan at Central Valley Christian: The Bears defeated Golden West 63-27, while the Cavaliers lost to Immanuel 28-17. Buchanan is expected to put up a lot of points this season, and this game should be no exception. Buchanan 64, CVC 23.<\/p>\n
San Joaquin Memorial at Lemoore: Both teams lost their season openers. The Tigers narrowly lost to a tough Sanger team, while the Panthers fell to a superior Kennedy squad 30-7. Will this be a close matchup? Lemoore 32, San Joaquin Memorial 27.<\/p>\n
Hanford at Sanger: Speaking of the Apaches, they host another game, this time against the Bullpups in their season opener. This is a tough game to call, but the Apaches should win. Sanger 34, Hanford 30.<\/p>\n
Upset special<\/p>\n
Coalinga at McLane: The Horned Toads looked tough against the Rough Riders, but McLane presents another test after winning an NYL title last season. Granted, key players from that Highlanders team have since graduated or transferred. Coalinga 34, McLane 30.<\/p>\n
