Edu is beloved by everyone around the club and has earned the respect of our supporters and so many others around the world through his character,\u00a0strength\u00a0and resilience. Decisions like this are never easy, but we are incredibly grateful for everything Edu has given to this club and for the\u00a0player and\u00a0person he has shown himself to be throughout his time in St. Louis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we continue to evolve the roster, we have had a lot of conversations with Edu and ultimately, we felt this was the right time to find a solution that made sense for him and for the club. We\u2019re all rooting for Edu and wish him nothing but the best in this next chapter.\u201d added Wray.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>L\u00f6wen\u00a0made two appearances for CITY SC\u2019s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, St Louis CITY2, before making his first-team debut in the club\u2019s inaugural MLS match against Austin FC on Feb. 25, 2023.\u00a0The German midfielder\u00a0played\u00a0an\u00a0important\u00a0role\u00a0throughout CITY SC\u2019s historic inaugural MLS campaign, recording six goals and a team-leading 17 assists. His performances earned him a place among the three finalists for the 2023 MLS Newcomer of the Year award, finishing third in the voting behind Giorgos Giakoumakis and Lionel Messi.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over his CITY SC career,\u00a0L\u00f6wen\u00a0made 103 appearances across all competitions, recording 23 goals and 30 assists. He\u00a0ranks first in club history\u00a0in regular-season\u00a0goal contributions (47 goal contributions in the regular\u00a0season;\u00a020 goals\u00a0and\u00a027 assists)\u00a0and\u00a0assists\u00a0(27).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the moment I arrived, this city and club welcomed me and my family with open arms,\u201d said\u00a0L\u00f6wen. \u201cI\u2019ve\u00a0had the privilege of experiencing some unforgettable moments here \u2014 moments\u00a0I\u2019ll\u00a0carry with me for the rest of my life.
