(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 Garces Memorial High School will implement new safety guidelines for Friday&#8217;s home football game versus Wasco High School.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after the death of <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/coroner-identifies-17-year-old-boy-killed-in-independence-high-school-shooting-kern-county-bakersfield-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">17-year-old Levi Jermaine Carter Brown<\/a>, who was shot and killed on Independence High School&#8217;s campus during a football game on Friday, August 21.<\/p>\n<p>All attendees at the game must undergo screening by security before entering the stadium. Those who refuse the screening process will be denied access to the stadium, according to school officials.<\/p>\n<p>SIMILAR:<a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/khsd-faces-calls-for-added-football-game-security-after-independence-high-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> KHSD faces calls for added football game security after Independence High shooting<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to a social media post, Garces Memorial High School said in part:<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/bakersfield-police-investigate-shooting-reported-at-independence-high-school-friday-night\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">light of recent events at a local football game<\/a>, Garces Memorial High School is taking additional precautions to help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all students, families, staff, and guests attending our athletic events.<\/p>\n<p>Clear bags are strongly encouraged. Diaper bags and medical items are subject are allowed but could be inspected, said school officials.<\/p>\n<p>Gates open at 3:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The varsity game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
