{"id":446147,"date":"2026-08-28T13:38:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T13:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/446147\/"},"modified":"2026-08-28T13:38:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T13:38:08","slug":"letter-to-conservative-influencer-lands-man-in-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/446147\/","title":{"rendered":"Letter to Conservative Influencer Lands Man In Prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A San Diego man who\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsandiego.com\/news\/local\/doj-charges-san-diego-man-sending-threat-podcaster\/3914015\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">sent a threatening letter to a conservative political commentator<\/a>\u00a0following Charlie Kirk&#8217;s killing was facing 11 months in federal prison Thursday after being sentenced by a Florida judge.<\/p>\n<p>George Isbell, 70, admitted to mailing the letter last fall to right- wing media personality Benny Johnson just over a week after Kirk, a friend of Johnson&#8217;s, was fatally shot at Utah Valley University.<\/p>\n<p>The letter read, &#8220;The world has so much hate and pain thanks to people like you and Charlie Kirk,&#8221; and &#8220;Here is hoping the American flag strangles the life out of you. My uncle drowned in the Rhine River to defeat fascists like you and I will not let his death be in (vain).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It concluded with, &#8220;Maybe someone will blow your head off!!! We can hope! Planning any public engagements? Love to see your head explode and your blood stain the concrete red. What a sight!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors wrote in their sentencing papers that numerous unsent &#8220;threatening and harassing&#8221; letters were later found in Isbell&#8217;s home, which were authored to Kirk&#8217;s widow and some U.S. Congressmembers, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Isbell pleaded guilty earlier this year in federal court in the Middle District of Florida to one count of mailing a threatening communication and one count of interstate threat to injure.
