{"id":446889,"date":"2026-08-29T04:55:03","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T04:55:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/446889\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T04:55:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T04:55:03","slug":"sacramento-county-deputies-release-video-of-deadly-shooting-on-interstate-80-near-citrus-heights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/446889\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento County deputies release video of deadly shooting on Interstate 80 near Citrus Heights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sacramento County Sheriff&#8217;s Office released body camera footage of deputies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/sacramento\/news\/deputies-shoot-at-suspect-on-i-80-near-antelope-after-car-chase\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shooting a domestic violence suspect<\/a> on Interstate 80 near Citrus Heights in early July.<\/p>\n<p>Deputies responded to the 2200 block of Zinfandel Drive in Rancho Cordova on July 5 for a report that a bloody woman was screaming for help.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When deputies contacted the woman, they said she reported that she survived three days of brutal beatings by her ex-husband. She said she played dead until the suspect left the room so that she could sneak out and seek help.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The suspect left the home, and deputies began searching for the suspect&#8217;s vehicle. It was later located on Fair Oaks Boulevard near the intersection of Kenneth Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>When deputies tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect took off.<\/p>\n<p>Deputies shot the suspect on eastbound I-80 near the Antelope Road exit after they said he pointed a firearm at them. The suspect died at the scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff&#8217;s office said five deputies fired their weapons. The suspect&#8217;s gun was recovered at the scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No deputies were injured in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The full video can be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/1749378382997505\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">watched on social media<\/a>.
