Surveillance footage showed thieves in a tow truck brazenly hauling away a Corvette worth $300,000 from the driveway of a home in Santa Clarita<\/a> in the middle of the night \u2014 leaving the supercar\u2019s owner heartbroken.<\/p>\n

The 2026 Corvette C8 ZR1<\/a> \u2014 complete with an orange wrap and blue-rimmed wheels \u2014 \u201cwas the car I always dreamt of having,\u201d owner Mario Jaramillo, 57, told the California Post.<\/p>\n

The 2026 Corvette C8 ZR1 \u2014 complete with an orange wrap and blue-rimmed wheels \u2014 \u201cwas the car I always dreamt of having, owner Mario Jaramillo said. Mario Jaramillo<\/p>\n

The car was stolen around 3:50 a.m. Thursday, according to his neighbor\u2019s security camera footag<\/a>e, but he only discovered it was stolen later that morning because he had his vehicle\u2019s security service turned off.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to the front of my house nonchalantly and saw that my car was gone. I was numb,\u201d Jaramillo added.<\/p>\n

A stolen vehicle report was filed with Santa Clarita Sheriff\u2019s Station at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, police confirmed. The car was equipped with GPS, but cops said the system was disconnected after the theft.<\/p>\n

The owner said he made multiple additions to the Corvette, like ambient lighting and an audio system. Instagram\/@whatsupscv<\/p>\n

Now, Jaramillo is left with only memories of his pride and joy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was able to meet people through the car. It helped me build a community,\u201d he explained. \u201cCar enthusiasts who would come up to me and ask, \u2018What does it take to get a car like this?\u2019 It was motivational for young people in their 20s.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Jaramillo, who\u2019s a lawyer with Access Lawyers Group, said he made multiple additions to the Corvette, like ambient lighting and an audio system, upping its value.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really made it one of one,\u201d Jaramillo said. Mario Jaramillo<\/p>\n

In an Instagram post<\/a> about the car, the owner\u2019s wife Laurel Jaramillo commented the Corvette was fully paid off and was not being repossessed.<\/p>\n

She said the thieves used a repo-style tow truck to take it from their driveway in less than a minute.<\/p>\n

Laurel Jaramillo said the car \u201cmeant everything\u201d to her husband. Facebook\/Laurel Birmingham<\/p>\n

\u201cThis car meant everything to him,\u201d she said of her husband, asking people sharing the video to \u201cplease be kind and helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mario said he felt comfortable parking in the driveway because there are similar cars in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels like we\u2019re sitting ducks. For some reason they targeted me,\u201d he said. \u201cWhere\u2019s the extra patrols? HOA?\u201d<\/p>\n

The theft remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

Jaramillo, however, doesn\u2019t believe he\u2019ll see the Corvette again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the car is long gone,\u201d he said. \u201cI think it\u2019s going to be shipped out of the country. But at the end of the day, it\u2019s a material loss. It can be replaced. What I want is for them to catch the thieves, so this doesn\u2019t happen to other people.\u201d<\/p>\n
