NBC<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for the California Morning Report newsletter\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCalifornia&#8217;s top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>She was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering from at least one stab wound, according to officers.<\/p>\n<p>Police <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/29\/us-news\/south-carolina-cops-wounded-in-shootout-near-columbia-park-suspect-killed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">described the suspect<\/a> as a woman who knew the victim.<\/p>\n<p>Officers were seen canvassing the quiet street late Friday and talking to locals.<\/p>\n<p>One man was seen gesturing towards them as a woman stood nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Police launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/25\/us-news\/oakland-stabbing-attacks-leave-1-dead-multiple-injured\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fatal attack<\/a> and the motive remained unclear.<\/p>\n<p>Violent crime in San Jose is generally falling, with 4,963 last year, down 15% on the year before. The city recorded 26 murders last year, which is near the lowest levels in 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>Police described the suspect as a woman who knew the victim.
